After a busy year-end that included the UK budget announcement, our involvement in the Herald’s post-budget briefing and last week’s Scottish budget, we’re pleased to share something a little lighter.
Basketball rewards quick thinking, preparation and teamwork, qualities that feel just as relevant off the court as they do on it. With that in mind, here are the Minerva Innovation Group Play of the Month winners from November and December, as voted for by Leicester Riders supporters.
November – Play of the Month
November’s winning moment came in transition, as the Riders turned pace and awareness into a powerful two-hand slam against the Phoenix.
Catching the defence on the retreat, Tomiwa Sulaiman attacked the open lane and finished emphatically at the rim. It was a play defined by decisiveness and confidence, a split-second read followed by full commitment.
Fans voted for the impact as much as the execution. A deserved winner from November.
December – Play of the Month
December’s Play of the Month was an electric alley-oop slam from RaeQuan against the Flyers.
The Riders moved the ball with purpose, recognising the opportunity and committing to the bold option. The lift, timing, and finish combined for a moment that lifted the arena and stood out in the monthly fan vote.
Another play shaped by awareness and execution, and one supporters were quick to recognise.
The Minerva Innovation Group Play of the Month series highlights the intelligence behind elite basketball, not just the athleticism. Much like effective R&D claims, success comes from preparation, accuracy and choosing the right moment to act. Two months, two plays worth revisiting, a chance to pause and celebrate creativity shaped by preparation and smart decision-making.
